While Pedro Neto is proud of the team’s efforts, he believes performances across the course of the season show Wolves could have done even more this term, had it not been for injuries.
The wide man, who has shone for Wolves when available, was speaking after returning from a hamstring injury on the final day of the season at Anfield on Sunday. Neto’s lively cameo showed Wolves supporters what they were missing, and while pleased to be back, particularly with the Euros approaching, the 24-year-old believes without injuries to key players, we could be talking about an even more successful campaign.
On returning from injury
“I’ve missed it so much, and I love to do it, so it’s what motivated me to continue. After two big injuries, these two are just my body reacting to that. I hope it’s the last one because I worked hard to come back to form, and I want to continue like this.”
On his season reflections
“I think the team should be proud, with the beginning we had. I think as well, we had important injuries, we played just 12 games at the beginning of the season with the front three we started with. We had players missing other games, as well.
“What the team needs now, moving forward to improve, is not to be happy with 14th. Of course, I understand the start of the season was what it was, but the performances that we did this year shows we can do a lot more.”
On O’Neil’s impact this season
“We have to thank him, to be honest. All the players have to thank the coach for coming in at the beginning of the season because it was an unbelievable improvement. Most of the players improved a lot individually and I think the squad should be thankful to him.
“The improvement that we had, scoring goals, and defending – I think we did a good season defending – it’s little details that they brought in, and the team improved a lot.”

On an eye on the Euros now
“I hope so. I work for that every day, I already missed two times through injury, but this time I’m available so let’s see the coach will do.”
