Neto | 'I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time'

Pedro Neto was delighted to return to the starting line-up for Wolves’ Premier League draw with Brighton & Hove Albion after more than two months out with a hamstring injury.

The winger has been absent since the end of October when he was withdrawn during the Old Gold’s 2-2 draw with Newcastle United at Molineux, but having been worked back into the team in recent weeks, Neto tried his best to help Wolves find the net on the road against the Seagulls. Although his efforts were in vain, he believes taking a point from a tough side was a positive for his team, especially ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup Black Country derby.

On first start since October

“I feel really happy. I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time, ever since I went back to training.

“I have enjoyed it a lot to be back, to be able to help my teammates, and I’m looking forwards to the next one already.”

On a draw against Brighton

“To be honest, I think we did a really good job. It was a good point. They controlled the game and they had more possession, but I think we had moments to have done one goal.

“The biggest opportunity from our side, we had my opportunity, we had Lemina’s, we had Pablo [Sarabia]’s and, on the counter-attack, we had Cunha’s as well.

“I think we did really good work. We came with a job here and we knew what we could do, but we did a really good job here to get a really good point.”

On difficulties in breaking the Seagulls down

“Against these guys, they play without the ball very well, man by man, and I always think that it’s really difficult because if you stay still, it’s easy to mark, so we had to rotate a lot in the attack and it was a tactic we worked a lot on.

“But it was a really tough game. Of course, with us pressing as well, it was really tiring, but it was a good work.”

On going six games unbeaten

“It’s been a really good run and we have to continue like that. It is always our mentality to work day by day, game by game, and we will continue like that.

On facing West Brom in the cup

“I am looking forwards to it. Everyone is looking forward to that. It’s like any other game, but of course, it’s a derby, but we’re going to go into it like we always do – to win it.”
