Jackson | 'Cesar spoke about his personality and desire to play'

The left-back joined the club following David Moller Wolfe’s departure and brings with him experience from a career across the globe and this summer’s World Cup, which should wear off on the squad in place at Compton Park.

Konan played under Peixoto at Gil Vicente last season, and the head coach provided a positive reference to the hierarchy at Wolves, meaning his capture made a lot of sense to Jackson, who has added competition the left-back slot once again.

On strengthening the squad

“Wolfie wouldn't have been allowed to leave until we had a replacement in place, and this was sanctioned by Cesar. He knew exactly what he was getting and we're delighted. Ghislain has the added bonus of having worked very closely with the coaching staff previously in Portugal, so they know him really well. They were happy to recommend him and have him come and join our squad.

“Cesar spoke about his great personality and his real desire to play football. Obviously, he spoke about his quality and him being a top international player, so lots of positives. They felt they were lucky to have him playing for them in Portugal, and now to continue that playing career with us here.”

On his qualities as a defender

“He knows the system and that's a good starting point. He's got great physicality and great enthusiasm to play, so they couldn't speak highly enough of him, and with the contact I've had with him, he’s been nothing but professional. He’s a really good player and has played at the highest level, consistently well, so he should be a really good addition for us.”

On becoming physically ready

“He's been doing private training camps, which really help, so he'll be up to speed really quickly for us. He's played at the highest level, so he has high expectations, wants us back at the highest level, that's his ambition for us. He’s delighted to be with Cesar and his team again and just wants to get going.”
