Mario Lemina believes Wolves were finally able to take the confidence they have gained from their home performances on the road as they downed Brentford on Wednesday evening.
The midfielder was once again key to the Old Gold’s showing, as he got Wolves off the mark for the second time this week when he met Pablo Sarabia’s cross for the opening goal. Although Lemina was pleased the team were able to earn their first away win since October, he still feels there are areas for improvement ahead of returning to Molineux to face Everton this weekend.
On three points at Brentford
“Before the game we needed to be confident away as we are at home. We had a good pressing team, we did well and when you press well some mistakes can happen and we build the game from that.
“I am disappointed a bit with the position we had in the second half, we just kept going back and it was not great. We need to be better in this situation, but of course 4-1 is a great score.
“The fans deserve it, the team deserve, the staff deserve it because we were working really hard.”
On growing in confidence
“It was about showing the same confidence that we showed in the win against Chelsea. It was really important to continue like that and the team feel more confident when playing away.
“But I think we had a good game, pressing in the first half and they made some mistakes and we scored some goals, and it was good for us to get four goals here.
“It’s really important to get two wins in a row like that because it is going to build us mentally. We are going to have confidence to play away now.”
On a first away win in two months
“It's hard to say why, but we’ve been talking quite a lot about all the games we have lost away. We never really talked about it before, but it was really frustrating because we could do some good things at home, but away we were struggling a lot.
“This week we’ve been talking about that and we took the game as a final, like we have to win this game, we have to change the side, and I think we did well tonight.”

On his fourth goal of the season
“To be honest, everything is going well for me, for the team, and I think he [O’Neil] gave me some freedom to go forward and to try to score because he trusts in me and I trust in the way he works with us.
“That’s the main thing. You have to get this chemistry with a coach and the staff, and after that, everything will go well for you.”
On preparing for Everton at Molineux
“I think the whole team is really happy right now, but we need to concentrate again ready for Saturday.
“The next game is at home and we have to keep going on what we can do at home. We’re going to rest and do the tactics for the next game and concentrate because it’s a really tough game against a big opponent that is really strong at the moment.
“They are a really good side, they are winning some good games, and it’s going to be tough, but we need to keep going and keep winning at home in front of our fans.”
