Following an eventful weekend across English football’s top two tiers, the line-up for the 2023/24 Premier League season has now been confirmed.
Luton Town, led by former Wolves defender and coach Rob Edwards, will compete in the Premier League for the first time after they joined Burnley and Sheffield United in earning promotion on Saturday.
The Hatters beat Coventry City on penalties in the play-off final at Wembley, after playing out a 1-1 draw in the initial 120 minutes, meaning Wolves will visit Kenilworth Road in the league for the first time since March 2007.
Burnley returned to the top flight after just one season away, having stormed the Championship under Vincent Kompany, while Sheffield United spent just two years back in the second tier before earning promotion in second place.
The trio take the places of Leicester City, Leeds United and Southampton, who finished in the relegation zone of the Premier League this season.
For Leicester and Leeds, it was a final day agony, as Everton survived. Leicester beat West Ham United, but it wasn’t enough, while Leeds were beaten by Tottenham Hotspur, ensuring it was them who finished 19th.
Southampton's fate was confirmed earlier in the month and they finished bottom, meaning Wolves won’t travel to the King Power, Elland Road or St Mary’s in the Premier League next season.
