Good afternoon and welcome to Molineux as we prepare for our first Premier League match here together.
I want to start by thanking you, our supporters, for your support during not only the last two matches, but since I first arrived here at Wolves. I have felt support the support of the fans and I’m very grateful, because I know you are going to help us a lot this season.
Not only in the good moments, but also in the bad, we need you to be here and be ready to give your support to our players on the pitch. Feeling the support of our fans is going to be key for our future, so I am very grateful what you have given us so far, and we will try to repay your backing by continuing to improve and trying to win matches.
We are always happy when we win, as you saw after the game against Everton, but the most important thing is to keep working and keep improving every day on the little details. Our work towards today’s game against Manchester United started as soon as our last match finished. We always have to look for the future and not dwell on the past.
The result of a game will never affect our preparation for the next one. If you’ve won or you’ve lost, you have to be focused on the next game and we will try to prepare in the same way.
It’s true that when you’ve won you are happier during the following days, but that is the only difference. You cannot think about the last three points, you should only think about the next three points, and that will always be the same.
This season is going to be a hard task, a long race, and we have to be ready for everything we face.
Our next challenge is today against Manchester United and I would like to welcome Erik ten Hag, his staff, players and the supporters from Manchester here to Molineux.
I have experiences of facing this team in the past, but all the matches are different, and all the moments are different. When I played against them before, it has been with different teams and in different contexts.
This is also a different context, as it’s the first time in the Premier League, but I’m aware that we are playing against a big team with big players and a good coach. We have to be ready to show our strengths and try to hide our weaknesses if we are to beat the opponent.
Once again, thank you for your support and enjoy the game,
Julen.
