Traore | 'I have the capacity to get more goals and assists'

Adama Traore admitted he was not as happy as he would have liked after scoring his first Premier League goal of the season as his header was unable to help guide Wolves to victory at Selhurst Park.

The winger put Wolves ahead against Crystal Palace on Tuesday night during a first 45-minute showing where the visitors were well worth their lead, but the hosts hit back after the break to stop Traore’s side from claiming successive top-flight wins. However, the Spaniard believes the team still has plenty of growing inside them as they look to develop as a team ahead of Sunday’s visit of Leicester City to Molineux.

On frustration at Palace

“We started in the first-half well, we had the fight, we played well, we had some chances, I took my chance well to help the team, but we didn’t take all of the chances.

“I appreciate that we fight well, but we have to do the same in the second-half, because I think in the second-half we didn’t start well.

“But we keep building. We won the last game and here we brought the fight, and this is the way. It wasn’t a good result, we’re not happy, we’re going to watch the game again and we’re going to come back stronger.”

On first goal of the season

“I’m happy to have scored, but I’m not happy in the same way because it doesn’t matter that I score if the team doesn’t win.

“I know I have to improve in these areas, I know I have the capacity to get more goals, get more assists, but it’s only my third game since my injury, and I tried to help the team when I started, but, unfortunately, it’s not enough.”

On recovering from injury

“Because I come from the injury, I couldn’t have so many minutes and that’s why the manager took me out as I still have to grow with my injury.

“I have to keep growing because I have to score more, I have to assist more and help in any defensive way. Whatever the team needs, I will keep improving to help them.

“I’ve come from the injury, but I have to keep growing because this is my mentality and this is the game. Today we didn’t win, but the things we didn’t do well, we’ll watch them again and improve, not only me, but as a team.”

On improving for Sunday

“Like I said, we’re going to watch the game again, but whatever happened here, we know that it’s going to stay here. We know what happened at the start of the second-half and we’re going to talk to each other, see what happens and grow as a team.

“We know the details we need to grow, but we’ve also got to keep fighting and keep working as a team.”
