Cesar Peixoto has called on Wolves supporters to help make Molineux a fortress this season, ahead of his side’s return home against Stoke City on Saturday.
After back-to-back victories on the road, in the Championship and Carabao Cup, the Old Gold are now looking to add three points on home soil when Stoke visit Molineux for the early kick-off.
Molineux was a lively place for the Championship opener against Blackburn Rovers a fortnight ago, and now the head coach wants to go one better than that night and turn one point into three and build on a positive start to the campaign.
On a positive start to the campaign.
“It could have been better if we’d won all four, but I think it’s been good for us and it’s helped us build confidence. We knew it was important to start the season in the right way. But there’s still a lot of work to do and a lot of things to improve. We have to stay humble and keep working as hard like in pre-season, to be strong in games and fight for the three points every time.
“It was very important because of what happened in the past. We worked very well and very hard during pre-season to start well. We have a clear idea of what we want from the team, inside and outside the pitch. I work with all of the players in the same way, not only the starting eleven, and that’s the key to starting well. We have to maintain this feeling inside the club and team.”
On facing Stoke next
“They’re a good team. I’ve analysed them like I analyse every opponent. It will be a tough game for us. They haven’t started the season as well, but they’re a good team with good players. In our home we have to look for the three points all the time. We’ve prepared for Stoke like we prepared for our previous game, trying to manipulate the spaces to play and see their weaknesses. It’s important that our supporters make Molineux our fortress. It’s very important to have a good Championship and tomorrow is important.”

On settling into English football
“I’ve really enjoyed the mentality and the culture around English football. Everyone at the club has welcomed me very, very well. I analysed a lot of Championship games and looked at the teams who were promoted to the Premier League – I wanted to understand the Championship. Now I’ve had two or three games, they’re different characteristics but we have to adapt some of our ideas to be competitive. I’m happy with the experience so far.
“The players work very hard. I found a group of players with quality, but also with a big capacity to work hard and move in the right direction. They want to win, they want to do things properly and they want to fight for the three points. We have the capacity to change the mentality and we’re going in the right way but still have work to do.”
