Jonny | 'We will go there to play our football'

Jonny is enjoyed a new lease of life at Wolves, as he begins his first injury-free start to a season in three years.

The Spaniard endured terrible luck over the past 48 months, suffering back-to-back ACL injuries, but since returning in February, has looked an impressive as ever, and after a full pre-season schedule, has started the new Premier League campaign in solid fashion. Despite the disappointment with only picking up one point so far, Jonny is looking ahead to Saturday in the capital with excitement, looking to add a further three to the board.

On his fifth year at Wolves

“I am so excited here. It’s my fifth year here now, but it’s like the first year, I feel like a kid in the Premier League. I bring these things and you know they work for me, so I keep going and keep learning about everything. I love going to every stadium and playing at home.”

On his personal targets

“It’s always to try to play the most games as possible, of course, and to be important for the team. I want to be there to try to help the team and to enjoy our work. Also, for us to try to fight for European positions and to be there, but it’s hard for everyone.”

On the new players settling in

“Good because everyone is a pack here – a good dressing room, good teammates. I think everyone who comes here to play is feeling good. I think all the staff, all the people who work for Wolves are like a family.”

On the Fulham draw

“It was difficult because you always want to win of course and even more in the first game at our home. We had a lot of chances for make a goal for us to score. When this doesn’t happen, it’s difficult for us, but now we just need to keep going for Tottenham.”

On the Spurs trip

“We, of course, will go there to battle, to fight, to play well, to go there to play our football, play well, and when face to face, try to win the game.”

On hopefully staying injury free

“It’s difficult, of course, and especially when the injuries are close, one to the other one. Everyone who was close to me was there to help me a lot – teammates, physios, my wife, and this is the most important for me.

“Now, I want to keep moving forward try to play the most games possible. I don’t think about this just in the football, I try to enjoy the most I can.”
