During a month where Wolves have won all four of their fixtures, three in the Premier League and an Emirates FA Cup third round tie, it’s no surprise that there were so many impressive performers in gold and black.
Jose Sa, Nelson Semedo, Maximilian Kilman, Conor Coady, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Joao Moutinho and Ruben Neves are all in contention to pick up the award after a stand-out month.
Wolves made an exceptional start to 2022, kicking off with a first victory at Old Trafford for 42 years before securing comfortable passage into the fourth round of the FA Cup having overcome Sheffield United. Bruno Lage’s men turned their attention back to the top-flight, completing January with four wins from four by scoring three times in consecutive matches for the first time this season against Southampton and coming out on top of a hard-fought clash at Brentford.
Individually, two-time Castore Player of the Month winner Sa continued his impressive first season at the club, keeping two clean sheets, while producing the highest save percentage of any goalkeeper in the Premier League.
In front of the keeper, Semedo picks up his first nomination of the season having got on the scoresheet in the FA Cup, while being instrumental for the team, highlighted with his influence in both goals at Brentford.
Moving across the defence, Kilman earns his sixth nomination out of six awards this season, having continued his impressive breakthrough campaign by making the most clearances (17) of any play in gold and black this month.
As the heartbeat of Wolves’ defence, Coady was not only dominant at the back during January, but he also got on the scoresheet for the first time in a Premier League match at Molineux with his goal against Southampton.
On the left, Ait-Nouri was the fifth member of the defence to earn a nomination this month having become Wolves’ assist king, setting up the first and third goals against the Saints, as well as the second in the cup.
Into midfield, and although Neves might have missed Wolves’ win against Saints, he still showed plenty in the other three matches, making the most passes per game of any Wolves player, before scoring the winner at Brentford on Saturday.
Next to him, Moutinho has been turning back the clock in January with two goals and an assist. Having only scored twice in his entire Wolves career, he doubled his tally this month, including notching the winner at Old Trafford for the second time.
