Molineux will host its first fixture since the Premier League restart when AFC Bournemouth arrive in town, but the usual electric atmosphere will be missing due to games now taking place behind closed doors. Wolves, however, will be focused on building on Saturday’s win at West Ham United, and Nuno is treating Bournemouth with the utmost respect going into the fixture.
On an empty Molineux
“The fans are irreplaceable, no matter what clubs try – us in particular with the images that there are. It’s appreciated, but nothing can replace our fans and the fans around the stadium. Nothing.
“We’ll miss them. It’s a game of football, but there’s no doubt that the support we have at Molineux has made us achieve almost impossible things in certain moments of the games. It’s amazing and we’re very thankful.”
On facing the bottom three
“It doesn’t have to do with the table. It’s not the way we look at things. It’s an opponent. No matter what the table tells you, there’s quality all over the place in the Premier League, it’s always going to be the same.
“Bournemouth are a team full of quality, we expect a very tough challenge, we don’t measure ourselves by the table. We’ve been able to sustain our levels that allow you go through the games.”
On continuing to improve each game
“As long as we keep trying to achieve and improve these kinds of intricacies between players, then that’s what we’ll try to do.
“They know each other well, and something that we still need to improve. I was pleased but only possible because of the first big and strong half that we made. That was important for the game and enabled us to go and try to achieve something more.”
On having Boly back
“He’s an important player, definitely. I think since three seasons ago, he’s been able to game by game to raise his standards. He had this injury, but as well as he’s fit and ready to go, he’s a very important player for us. No doubt about it.”
On a tight schedule
“We have a pandemic. That’s worse than a tight schedule. The schedule is almost the same, but in a different moment. It’s almost like starting a new season with the first week of competition being three games in a row.
“There’s not too many days in between so, it’s hard for every team. It’s a challenge for every team, all the protocols that we have to get through, the way we prepare ourselves, we have to adapt to a lot of things, so it’s equally challenging to the tight schedule of the Premier League and the Europa League.”
