The influential defender missed three months through injury over the winter, but his return brought four consecutive clean sheets and an upturn in results for Wolves. After a week in which his team qualified for the last 16 of the Europa League and shocked Tottenham Hotspur away, Boly was in positive spirits, and is glad to be back out on the pitch, doing what he loves.
On being back fit and helping his team
“It was very difficult, especially when you see the players playing and you can’t help them. The only thing I said was: ‘If I cannot help them now, I have to work very hard to help them in the future’. I’m playing now, so I’m helping the team as much as I can.
“I knew myself, everybody knows everybody in this club, so when I was injured, they said: ‘You have to work very hard to be where you were, if you’re not working very hard, it will be very difficult for you’. I was in every day and it wasn’t easy, but the team and the staff helped me, and they helped me very good, so they said how I didn’t work for nothing.”
On approaching Brighton
“Sometimes it’s difficult because when you approach the game, some teams play different, so you have to trust your organisation. We have worked in the week and we have to apply this against the team we face.
“When I came back, because I didn’t play against Norwich away, when we played them recently, I was asking the players if they are good and they said they were very good. You’ve got to be careful, no team is easy, so we know Saturday will be a very hard game.
“If we play with our organisation, we can win this game, but we have to be serious. If we are not, we can lose this game three or four nil.”
On belief after falling behind
“We believe in us. That’s why we are where we are. If we are losing a game 1-0, we know we have the capacity to come back. We don’t care, we just believe in our organisation and we try going forward. We’ve been working for three years now. We’ve built this from the Championship. Last season we were good as well and this season the work has continued.”
On Jota’s form
“It was difficult for him before his injury because he wasn’t scoring and everybody said: ‘Don’t worry, you will score – you have to believe and keep working’. He was working very hard as well, now he’s scoring but it’s not just from now, because he was working before.
“It’s difficult because imagine if you don’t score and you’re a forward. Everybody is looking at you, like he’s not good, he has to be on the bench, but we are not like this. When a player is not scoring, we don’t care, we say we believe in the player and know he will help us in the future, and he’s helping us now.”
