Taylor "over the moon" to make his debut

Terry Taylor was “over the moon” to make his Wolves debut at Aston Villa on Wednesday evening.

The midfielder has progressed through the club’s youth system and was rewarded with his first-team debut as a second-half substitute at Villa Park. Although Wolves were narrowly beaten, Taylor was delighted to make his debut, which has left him hungry for more opportunities.

On making his debut

“It’s not the result we were after, but nonetheless it’s a really proud moment, something I’ve dreamed about my whole life and to make it for this club is amazing.

“The past few days we’ve been training and, obviously, you’re never sure (if you'll play), but we got told yesterday that we were travelling and I was over the moon.”

On stepping on to the pitch

“To be honest, you just want to get on there. For me, the feeling was amazing, but when you get on the pitch you just want to start playing and it was obviously a difficult game to come on to, but it’s amazing.”

On having a good go

“There was a difference in the second-half. I think we were more on the front foot. We obviously got the goal and that lifted us, but Villa did control it well, they’re a good team, they’ve got good experience, but the second-half was definitely better and we can take the positives from that.”

On playing with fellow under-23 players

“We know that we need to be better than that as well, but everyone can learn from that, take it into the next game and improve.

“It’s good for everyone to be involved, be around it, it’s a motivation for us then to go and do well in the 23s and try and get more opportunities out of that. So, I think it can only benefit us and we can learn and go forward.”
