Vallejo feeling at home at Wolves

Jesus Vallejo is feeling the trust of Nuno Espritio Santo and has made a flying start to life in Wolverhampton as a result.

The Real Madrid loaned was thrown in at the deep end against Torino on Thursday night, but stood up to be counted with his new team mates, who he looks at home alongside already. The tie was Vallejo’s second Wolves appearance, after he helped his new team to a clean sheet and victory over FC Pyunik, and the 22-year-old is enjoying his new surroundings.

On starting Europa League matches

“I feel very happy since the first day I arrived here. The staff, my team mates, everybody has welcomed me with open arms. I've felt at home, really.

“The team spirit is fantastic and morale is very high. It’s important as we play so many games back to back.

“What struck me is that Nuno keeps on saying that every single one of us matters in the team.”

On winning in Turin

“It was indeed a very difficult game. I think we prepared for it very well and executed our plan.

“Torino’s two goals really hurt, but I still think we’re coming back home with a good result.

“Of course, now we must win the second leg at the Molineux Stadium.”

On same system at Real Madrid

“Yes, we have a three-line defence. I'm used to that position. At Zaragoza, and then at Eintracht Frankfurt, I played in that position.

“At Wolverhampton, I tend to play more on the right side, but I can genuinely play in any of the three defensive positions. Truth is I feel very at ease in Nuno's system.”
