Players recharged and ready, says Dendoncker

Leander Dendoncker insists the training camp in Spain came at a good time for Wolves and Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad are relishing their return to Premier League action.

After defeats to Watford and Southampton, Nuno took his squad to Spain for a warm-weather training camp, where they were able to recharge batteries before the run-in. Back in the West Midlands preparing for Saturday’s game with Brighton, Dendoncker spoke pre-match about the anticipation for their return to action.

On resting up in Spain

“It was nice. It was important for the team to have a bit of a rest, to enjoy ourselves and to train together in the sun.

“The last few games we were a bit unfortunate, the results were not really good. The goal was to try and have a rest, physically and mentally, and I hope it can work and we’ll win on Saturday.

“We discussed the games (Watford and Southampton) and made clear this season is not over yet, there are still five games to go and they are very important to see where we finish.”

On respecting Brighton

“They are near the bottom of the table, but we can’t underestimate them, because they are a good team with good players. They have pressure going on, which might help them.

“They will be really motivated to play a good game against us and get a good result. It’s up to us to be ready and try to get the three points.

“We take it game by game, it might be our strength. We have two home games now and are very strong at home, with the support of our fans, and I hope we get two good results before we go to Watford.”

On personal game

“I’ve been feeling good lately, playing a lot of games which is nice. This has been a great season for the team and I hope we can end it in a good way. Every footballer wants to play, that’s what we like the most. It’s nice to be part of this great team.

“At the beginning it was difficult for me, in the first few months I didn’t play, so it was tough and a hard time for me.

“I tried to keep on working to become part of the team and starting from December it got better, I started to play, and from then I’ve played a lot of games.”
