Raul Jimenez was delighted to give Wolves supporters a moment to celebrate with his late winner at Sheffield United on Sunday.
The Mexican turned home Tommy Doyle’s ball in the 90th minute and proceeded to celebrate with a delirious away end behind the goal at Bramall Lane.
They’re the moments which lured Jimenez back to Molineux for a second stint in the summer, and he praised the mentality and patience of the group, which saw them battle to an important victory in South Yorkshire.
On the late win at Bramall Lane
“It’s always special scoring goals in this shirt. It aways feels like home even when we’re away, with the fans supporting us every minute from the start of the match, so giving it back with three points is really special for us.
“It was part of my reason for coming back. It’s what I want to do more often. We want to keep working hard and keep pushing to go into games with this feeling, that we can win all of the games, and we are going to fight until the end to get the three points.”
On his winning moment
“You need to be in the right place at the right moment. I just put some technique there just to put the ball inside of the net. It was an amazing feeling, feeling myself so lonely in that moment with no defenders – they’d been grabbing me all the time but in that moment I was by myself and I just needed to put it in the net.
“I’m really happy to give back to the fans what they are expecting from me. In the first half we created a couple of good opportunities and just needed to be there in the exact moment. This one, I’m going to say, was a great assist from Tommy.”

On remaining patience
“We needed to be focused the whole game. We knew that they were a team that always fights. We were better than last week against Birmingham, it was a similar kind of game, but we learned from that and came with the mentality to win.”
On creating momentum
“It’s really special. It’s really important to keep winning games after one defeat and one draw in our last time. It was important the gap didn’t get bigger in the table, although we know we’ve played one less game than most of the teams. We need to keep working hard. We did what we needed to do in this kind of game – fighting for every ball and we have our three points, so it’s special.”
