The defender played a key role in helping Nuno Espirito Santo’s side claim their first win in seven English top flight matches, delighting fans with his long throws and a last ditch sliding tackle to deny Willian.
“We knew it was going to be hard coming into the season,” Bennett said. “Obviously with the teams which are in this league there were always going to be points when things would be tough.
“But it’s about how you get through them, and we managed to do that the other night against Chelsea, so it’s nice to be back on track.
“The aim is to get three points, that’s how we go into every game. We found it tough in the last couple of games, against Huddersfield and Cardiff, but with a good result at Chelsea we want to take that into the game at Newcastle, which is going to be a tough place to go.
“But it’s a game we look at to try and get all three points.”
Wolves head to St James’ Park on Sunday afternoon for another match in front of the Sky Sports cameras, and Bennett knows how difficult a task the team have on their hands to overcome Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle.
“It is a tough game, especially going away from home. The fans at Newcastle get right behind them, but every game in this league is tough and this will be another one.
“We’re looking to work hard in training this week before that game and hopefully we can put our plans into practice and end up getting the three points.”
Wolves’ positive start to the season was dented by a blip in November, but the 28-year-old said the winless run demonstrated the quality in the Premier League.
Bennett added: “To finish in the top half of the table in your first season is tough, but a lot of people have been talking about it – a lot of people outside the club have been saying that’s where we should be, but we know deep down, within the club, how hard it’s going to be.
“You look at the sort of dip we just had, and it makes you realise how hard it is in this league, but we’ve got a pretty good perspective of where we’ve come from and how hard it is, but we’ll be trying to achieve that top ten finish and we’ll see what happens.”
