N'Diaye On Stand-Out Moments Of Promotion Campaign

Loanee Alfred N’Diaye believes Wolves took inspiration in their promotion battle from three Championship games during 2017/18, where the Wolves spirit came to the fore.

Away victories at Bristol City, Middlesbrough and Cardiff City required sheer desire and hard work, as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side secured the Championship title.

The win in Wales all but sealed top spot for the men in gold and black but it’s the efforts across all three games which stand out for N’Diaye.

“The highlight for me was the Bristol City game,” said. “The second goal by ‘Benno’ was crazy, it was an incredible game, 10 vs 11, we fought and played well.

“Barry scored a free-kick and assisted ‘Benno’ in the last minute so it was a fantastic feeling. At that time Bristol City were close to us and for me it was the best moment this season.

“That week (in April) was also crazy. We played Middlesbrough with nine and won, played Hull at home and then had the crazy end at Cardiff – these moments were key.

“I will not forget this, they’re good moments when you fight with your team mates and get the result you want, it’s a good feeling.”

N’Diaye joined Wolves on loan from Villareal on the August Deadline Day and went on to play 37 times in midfield, alongside Ruben Neves or Romain Saiss.

His goals against Barnsley, QPR and Norwich City helped accumulate seven points towards the overall total and he reflects on a good year’s work in old gold.

“When I joined we were in a good position in the table but I didn’t know if it was a good club, with good fans and personnel. I had a good surprise because everything is good here.

“Everyone’s waited for this for a long time. We started the season very well but kept it up all season. I think the fans are proud to be Wolves fans,” he added.
