Ruddy Frustrated

John Ruddy says that Wolves were left frustrated as they were held to a 0-0 draw away at Barnsley in the Sky Bet Championship.

In a game in which Wolves dominated, the visitors were unable to capitalise on their chances as both teams left Oakwell with a point a piece.

Ruddy said that the dressing room was downbeat but on reflection felt it will be a positive point at the end of the season.

Ruddy began, “Frustrating would sum that game up for us - I thought we limited them to very few chances, if any real chances.

“We created enough chances to win the game comfortably, unfortunately it was one if those days when they just didn’t go in.

“It’s going to be a recurring theme, I feel now where teams are going to frustrate us and make things difficult for us.

“To be fair to Barnsley, that’s exactly what they’ve done.

“The dressing room is a little bit down beat but I think that’s a good sign - it was the same when we went to Milwall, again a very tough place to go and pick up a point at places like that.

“I think they’ll be positive points at the end of the season.”

The point at Oakwell extended Wolves’ unbeaten run to 14 games in all competition meaning that their lead is 10 points at the top of the Championship

Ruddy says battling to a point is the best alternative if Wolves don’t win the game.

“I’ve said it before, we’ve got a target on our back and it’s only normal when we’re sat where we’re sat in the league,” the 30 year old said.

“Teams are chasing us and they want to be the team that derails us - it’s important that if games like today happen, the most important thing is that we don’t lose them.

“It’s a good point coming away to a very tough place to come and we ground it out well but onto the next one on Wednesday.

“It’s fantastic experience for all of us not matter how long we’ve been in the game or how many time you’ve been in a situation like this.

“To be at the top of the league and to hold a good total of points is very nice but we know there’s a long way to go and the manager’s very firm on it - it’s a game at a time, today was an important game.

“We picked up a point, albeit a disappointing point from our point of view but the most important game now is Swansea in the cup on Wednesday and then after that we look at Forest.

“It’s the old cliche - it’s a game at a time.”

Wolves are next in action on Wednesday when they face Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium in the Emirates FA Cup Third Round replay (7:45pm)
