Nuno Pleased With Performance

Nuno Espirito Santo felt that his side were the better team as Wolves drew 0-0 with Swansea City in the Emirates FA Cup at Molineux.

Both teams had players sent off in a game in which Wolves had the better of the chances.

Speaking after the game, the Wolves head coach said that he was happy with his side’s performance but that he was disappointed with the result.

He said, “We were the better team but we are not frustrated - we are pleased with the performance but we are not happy with the result.

“We are really pleased with the performance of the team, first of all, of the individual players that came in, of the first moments of the season for some players, young players who were dominant in the game, controlling the game, creating chances, being better than the opponent - you have to be pleased and proud.

“The creating part, the production of the team, the way we controlled the game, the way we break the opponent and totally dominate the game - this is what we should look at, that will come naturally. We have to work but that will come.”

Wolves were reduced to ten men in the 38th minute as Ruben Vinagre was given a red card for a tackle on Nathan Dyer before Leroy Fer was sent off for the visitors midway through the second half.

Nuno revealed that he had spoken to the referee after the game and he admits that he agreed with both decisions.

“I agree with both situations, I had a moment to speak with the referee - there is no intention from Ruben, he is running and he steps on the player but what the referee sees is a step and a tackle.

“The other was a clear chance for us and there is a kick which is intentional from behind on Helder. I agree on both situations.”
