Whilst giving Derby all due respect, and acknowledging a tough task likes in store, Nuno says Wolves must not deviate from their own beliefs about playing the game and just focus on putting that into practice at Pride Park tomorrow (3pm).
“Tomorrow is a tough game for us,” says the Head Coach.
“Derby are a good team with good players and a good coach.
“So we know what we will face, and we will prepare for that, but also it is all about us.
“It is all about our ideas, and what we can put out there on the pitch, and it doesn’t matter whether we are home or away.
“We have to be a team which can impose our game on the opposition.
“We are never going to change – we are Wolves and we will fight!
“When you are building something that will come with time you cannot keep changing your process or your ideas and you have to have the same preparation, whatever the opponent.
“The start of the season has proved with hard work and team spirit you can do things.
“But we have to progress and get better because as the season goes on we face different opponents and different challenges.
“I am pleased so far but delighted? Not yet. There is a long way to go.”
Nuno made nine changes for Tuesday’s Carabao Cup tie with Yeovil after the opening Sky Bet Championship fixture with Middlesbrough and the final result was the same – a 1-0 victory.
He insists all squad members will have a part to play and, with Ivan Cavaleiro available again after suspension tomorrow, says the more options the better in terms of picking the team.
“The most important thing is that it is all about the squad,” he said.
“We have seen from the last week with Saturday and then a fresh team on Tuesday that we were able to compete and achieve another win.
“Everyone has to be ready for when the technical team makes the decision to use a player, based on the momentum of the player, the gameplan and the opponent.
“All these options make Wolves stronger, and so for me they are good choices, not tough choices.
“When you have players with talent that you can decide to use at whatever moment…these are good choices to have.”
Of the quintet currently on the sidelines for Wolves – Helder Costa (ankle), Ben Marshall (hip), Kortney Hause (hip) Phil Ofusu-Ayeh (ankle) and Morgan Gibbs White (foot)– all are making progress.
“Helder is still on his recovery and hopefully in a couple of weeks he will join the group and then it’s all about the hard work of getting back in shape,” added the Head Coach.
“Then we will choose the right moment (for him to play) because after that he cannot take a step back.
“It is a few weeks for Ben as well who is in the same process, and all the other players coming back.
“They are ‘almost’ but we have to be really careful.
“When they join the group, for certain we are going to be strong.”
