Cup on the toon

Wolves face successive trips to St James' Park

Wolves have been drawn away to Newcastle United in the third round of the EFL Cup.

And that means two successive Wolves games played at St James’ Park with the Sky Bet Championship clash already scheduled for Saturday, September 17th.

This third round tie will now be played in the week beginning September 19th.

The teams will therefore meet twice within a few days having not met since the 2011/12 Premier League season when Wolves hit back to draw 2-2 at St James’ Park.

The teams have never met in this competition before, although have locked horns nine times in the FA Cup.

The date and ticket details for the fixture will be announced when finalised.
