As he prepares for the Championship play-offs, Ryan Giles sat down with Wolves TV to discuss his year at Middlesbrough as part of the latest Loan Wolf episode.
No Championship player has assisted more times that Ryan Giles this term, with 12 across all competitions, and his form across the 2022/23 season helped fired Boro into the play-offs, where they face Coventry City over two legs in the coming week.
This is the latest in a long line of loans for the Wolves Academy product, but his most successful to date, and he welcomes the cameras into his home to share his experiences with Wolves TV.
Darren Ryan and Matt Jackson also feature in the second Loan Wolf episode, following the Nigel Lonwijk edition at Plymouth Argyle, shining a light on the success of the Old Gold youngsters spreading their wings away from Molineux.
On his loan, he said: “It’s been really, really good for me personally. The experience, to come here and play in the team has been fantastic. There’s been some change and I’ve been able to learn off two different styles this season, which is great. I’m really enjoying my football.
“We’re playing well, we’re all high on confidence and we believe in each other. I know the manager believes in us and we believe in him. I’m sure if we have that unity together, we will achieve something special.”
Jackson, Wolves’ strategic player marketing manager, said: “He’s improved the areas of his game which needed improving, some of his defensive work. We certainly know from an attacking sense he’s got tremendous tools for the Championship. It’s just now whether they translate to higher levels.
“It’s always down to the player, their willingness to learn, their willingness to try the things they’ve been taught on the field of play, and when you get Ryan in an environment like Middlesbrough, the way he’s asked to express himself, it’s quite right he’s now delivering the very best that he can do. His pathway has been excellent.”
