The forward, who scored his first senior goal for Wolves in a 2-0 victory over Southampton in the second round of the Carabao Cup last season, is glad he made the temporary move to Murcia.
“It’s really good and a different experience. I didn’t know what to expect coming to Spain, a different country, and I don’t speak the language, but it’s been good so far and I’m glad I came.
“It’s a bit different to League Two, because when I went to Port Vale it was a lot more physical than it is over here in Spain, but even this is more physical than under-23 football, so it’s good to experience different things.
“It’s always good to have different options, so rather than just having the options in England if you go over and do well in Spain you have those options as well and your name gets out more.
“Wolves have got a strong link with Jumilla and it’s very different to England, the food is very different, and over here in Murcia they don’t speak a lot of English. Sometimes I have to use Google Translator to get my points across!
“But we’ve learnt a couple of easy words to help our communication on the pitch, words such as ‘change, left, right, forward, man on’, so the football lingo is alright.”
Wilson spent the second half of the 2017/18 season on loan at Port Vale where he scored one goal in eight appearances. But since moving to Jumilla, he has been a regular in the starting line-up, providing four goals.
“On my last loan I didn’t play as much as I wanted,” Wilson said. “But over here I’ve been playing game after game, and I’m pleased that I’m getting more minutes into my legs, getting me fitter, stronger, so it’s been a really good experience.
“I just want to do well at Jumilla and score as many as I can. My goal target up until January is 10 and I’m nearly half way there, so hopefully I can reach that.”
The 21-year-old was part of the team which played a recent friendly against a Wolves Academy side who made the trip over to Spain to further enhance the link between the two clubs, with the match finishing 1-0 to Jumilla.
Wilson added: “It was a bit weird playing against Wolves because it’s not something you do really, play against your own team, but it was fun and once the whistle went and we started playing, you get used to it and it’s just a game again.
“I’ve been watching the first team a lot this season and they’re doing really well. It’s great to see young players having a chance, with Elliot [Watt] starting in the Carabao Cup against Sheffield Wednesday and Benny [Ashley-Seal] coming on and scoring a penalty against Leicester.
“I keep in contact with the guys at Wolves all the time. Every week I’m talking to them about different things, such as what I want to improve on, so it’s been good having that contact and still feeling part of the club.”
Away from Jumilla, Christian Herc is playing regularly for Slovakian Fortuna Liga team Dunajská Streda, with his three goals and three assists helping them to second place in the table, as well as providing three assists in the club’s Europa League qualifying efforts.
Roderick Miranda provided two assists for Olympiacos in their Europa League qualifying matches, featuring for the full 90 minutes in two of their Europa League group matches, and a number of times in the Greek Super League.
Back in England, Aaron Collins has been in every matchday squad for League Two side Colchester United, with the winger scoring his first goal for the club in a 2-0 Checkatrade Trophy win over Southend United.
At Walsall, Connor Ronan has been a regular member of the League One side this season, providing an assist in the 3-2 win over Wycombe Wanderers. While, centre-back Connor Johnson scored for the Black Country club in a 2-1 Checkatrade Trophy loss to Port Vale.
Centre back Ben Goodliffe has featured in 15 matches for Dagenham & Redbridge in the National League, and after being on the bench for the start of the Championship season, Danny Batth has played the duration of Middlesbrough’s last two league matches.
