The relaunch of Wolves Foundation’s Football & Education programme with Telford College has seen the first students back learning and taking the first steps towards a valuable qualification.
The two-year programme offers students a BTEC level three sports diploma in sport, picking up valuable industry knowledge in areas such as anatomy and physiology, sports coaching, sports science and performance analysis.
Having initially run before the pandemic, the course started up again last month, with several enrichment opportunities already completed and the fixture programme up and running against other club community organisations (CCO’s) from the EFL and Premier League.
That enrichment has included enjoying an induction day and photoshoot at Molineux, attending the Under-21s fixture at the stadium against Real Madrid, and viewing a presentation from Wolves under-18’s strength and conditioning coach Fraser Russell.
The course and associated enrichment are all designed to improve employability options and prepare students for various potential opportunities within the world of sport.
“We are delighted to once again be working with the leadership team at Telford College, and to see the new intake of students making such a strong start across all areas of the programme,” says Brad Moore, post 16 education and skills manager with Wolves Foundation.
“The classroom studies, enrichment opportunities and weekly programme of fixtures are already in full flow, with students making substantial progress.
“The course offers students the chance to obtain a qualification which can lead to different careers in the world of sport, and we are excited to see the young people embark on what will be an exciting journey.”
Students will also enjoy access to some of the best facilities in the area at Telford College. These include a double sized sports hall, an indoor 3G football pitch, an outdoor 3G all-weather pitch, professional studio and well-stocked gym.
Prospective students wishing to consider applying for the course from next September, can attend a taster session at the college from 1pm to 3pm on Thursday 30th October.
