Foundation Covid-19 update

Wolves Foundation are continuing to monitor the situation regarding the substantial increase in Covid-19 infections due to the Omicron variant and will adapt the charity’s activities when required in line with the relevant guidelines.

At the time of writing, several Foundation activities will still be taking place over the Christmas period, with extra measures in place to reduce numbers and contact, but all remain subject to change depending on the ever-moving situation.

The Premier League Kicks pre-Christmas event has been cancelled and participants booked in or planning to attend other Foundation sessions such as Soccer Schools or the HAF (Holiday Activity and Food) programme are advised to keep an eye on their email and the Foundation’s social media channels for any changes which could occur at short notice.

Lee Smith, the Foundation’s senior manager (operations), explains: “During the festive period everyone at the Foundation is keen to continue to support our local communities, and in doing that we are once again adapting in the way we deliver our projects, just as we have throughout the pandemic.

“But the safety of our participants and staff remains at the heart of everything that we do and so extra measures will be in place to help reduce the risk of spreading infection.

“We are limiting the numbers at sessions, and staff will deliver in a way which reduces contact as well as maintaining all the cleaning measures and protocols which have become a standard part of our face-to-face provision.

“We would ask participants to take caution when attending sessions and, if showing any symptoms of Covid-19, not to attend and arrange to get a test as soon as possible.

“It is another very challenging time for everyone and we know how important our sessions are in improving the mental and physical health of all in the community but we will continue to take all the relevant advice from Public Health and our own procedures over the coming days and weeks.

“All at the Foundation would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support and understanding and wish you a safe and happy festive period.”

The Foundation are still planning to deliver their Christmas shoeboxes (details here on how to donate) next week to ensure children who may not be receiving much during the festive period can benefit from the generosity of supporters.
