Coady | 'There's still a lot more improving to be done'

Conor Coady admits Wolves’ focus quickly shifted onto Leeds United on Saturday despite being involved in one of the most ‘incredible’ endings to a game at Villa Park last weekend.

The Wolves captain played an influential role in helping get his side back on level terms, before a last-gasp goal secured a fourth win in the last five Premier League matches for Bruno Lage’s men, and Coady is hoping his side can make it five from six when they head to Elland Road, although he understands the tough test which faces the side.

On a snatch and grab at Villa Park

“It was a mad ending to the game. If you choose a way to win the game, you’d choose that, especially in a Midlands derby against your rivals, that’s the way you want to win it.

“But we’ve had chance to think about the game since the weekend and it was an obviously incredible finish, but it was a really tough game.

“Full credit to Aston Villa to how they game went, but the last ten minutes were absolutely incredible and something we’ll remember forever.”

On four wins from five

“I wouldn’t say that it’s about anything clicking, but we’ve listened to him [Lage] as much as we can, we do a lot of meetings there, we do a lot of analysis and we looked a lot at that [Brentford] game, we looked a lot at it in the days leading up to the next one.

“It was something where we needed to listen to him as much as possible, we needed to tweak one or two things here and there to try and make ourselves better, and we’ve done that.

“There’s still a lot more improving to be done. We’ve not hit the majestic heights that we want to hit. We want to get better, we want to improve, but you always want to improve when you’re winning, and, luckily, we’re doing that at the minute.”

On improving under Lage

“Since the manager’s came in, he’s been brilliant. His analysis, his meetings, the way he goes about it, his attention to detail on the training pitch, he takes absolutely everything on the training pitch and really wants to improve you – not just as an individual, but most importantly, as a team as well.

“He’s been fantastic and is really good to listen to on a daily basis and the analysis side is a lot different to what we were used to, but we’re all really enjoying it.”

On heading to Elland Road on Saturday

“We’ve got three more games before the next international break, and we’ll look to get as many points on the board, and see where we are when that comes.

“But in terms of the next three games, we’re not looking too far ahead, we never do. It’s something we’ve never done at this football club and we won’t start now.

“We’re targeting Leeds on the weekend, we’re targeting to put on a good performance, we’re targeting to try and get the best performance we possibly can to try and win the game.

“We know how tough it’s going to be. We know how good Leeds have been over the last couple of years, they’ve got their own way of playing, their own way of doing things and we’ve got to get our heads around that, because it’s such a tough way to play against.”
