As the 2023/24 Premier League season draws to a close, there’s plenty to celebrate in the world of Fantasy Premier League.
So, who were Wolves’ star performers, according to Fantasy Football Hub’s artificial intelligence?
Striker Matheus Cunha wins the FPL Player of the Season award, finishing the campaign on 135 fantasy points, which places him within the top ten forwards in the game. He amassed 19 goal involvements from 29 starts, with an average of 4.2 points per match.
Cunha made the Team of the Week on three occasions in this campaign, with his hat-trick in the 4-2 win against Chelsea in February netting 17 points, the biggest return for a Wolves player this season. He finished as the joint-top goalscorer, along with Hee Chan Hwang.
If we delve deeper into the points per match metric, attackers Hwang and Pedro Neto both narrowly beat Cunha, scoring 4.3 points per game apiece on average. Hwang led the way for big chances on goal this season, while Neto registered the most assists.
Hwang was a popular acquisition during the festive schedule, with his over one million owners at the time benefiting from his purple patch of three goals and an assist in December. He made the Team of the Week in Gameweek 19, with a brace in the 4-1 win at Brentford.
When it came to creativity, Pablo Sarabia played an important role, top for both key passes and big chances created. He provided 40 successful crosses, taking 71 corners and 23 free kicks. He also converted from the penalty spot against Manchester United and West Ham.
Rayan Ait-Nouri became the go-to Wolves defender for fantasy managers given his attacking threat, sitting seventh among defenders for expected goals with 3.12 xG through the season, scoring two goals. He ended the campaign as the highest owned Wolves asset.
He also registered three fantasy assists over the campaign, twice making the Team of the Week. All his attacking returns came in a ten gameweek period on his return from the African Cup of Nations with Algeria.
Goalkeeper Jose Sa broke the 100-point barrier for the third consecutive season, keeping four clean sheets. He ranked fourth for saves among all goalkeepers this season, on 134. He produced a rare assist against Nottingham Forest in Gameweek 33.
In fan news, Natasha Kainth won the Wolves fan league with her side ‘Get in the Neto’, finishing an impressive 151st in the world, on 2,667 points. The side was ranked as high as 14th overall with two gameweeks to go, before ultimately falling away in Gameweek 38 with just 39 points.
Eight managers in the league finished in the top 1,000 managers overall. Lindsey Himan won the Wolves Cup, managing a side titled ‘Er-Linds Haaland’. The competition went right down to the wire, beating Raffi Dishjekian’s side ‘Behesne’ in a Gameweek 38 tie-break on most goals scored.
For those who missed out on glory in 2023/24, FPL is set to return again in July, when all the fun begins for a new season. The planning can commence on Tuesday 18th June, when the Premier League fixtures will be announced at 9am (BST).
