Mexican striker Raul Jimenez discusses life Away From the Action at Molineux and Compton Park, exploring how he keeps relaxed and some of his favourite activities.
What do you like to do away from football?
I like to spend time with my kids and my family. I enjoy being at home and playing with them. That’s what I think now I’m a father, it’s what I enjoy the most.
Do you watch football outside of Wolves?
Sometimes I watch it when I can. When there’s a big game on the TV I’ll watch it, but it’s usually when I get home and my babies are sleeping then I will be able to watch the matches.
Are there any other sports you like to play?
I like to play tennis, but I also like American football and basketball. I haven’t played American football or basketball too many times, I mainly like to watch them.
Is there one sport or activity you wish you could try?
It would be either riding motorcycles or driving cars, such as Formula 1. I enjoy watching F1, so when I retire, maybe I can try driving an F1 car.
Are you quite active during your downtime?
Now, I enjoy being more at home with my family. Before, when I was single and I had free time, I would prefer being active and doing things. But now I’m a father, it’s more that I want to stay with them and spend as much time as I can with them.

Where do you like to visit during time off?
I like going to places that have beaches. I like to be in the sun, with the sand and the sea. If I can be anywhere, then I like to be somewhere like that.
Which teammates would be the best and worst to spend downtime with?
The teammate I spend most of my time with is Jonny, but I also spent time with Joao [Moutinho], Ruben [Neves] and Pedro Neto. They are the ones that I spend my time with. I couldn’t give a least favourite. I like to spend time with everyone. I can talk about everything with everyone, so it doesn’t matter to me who it’s with.
Do you spend time with your teammates away from Compton?
Sometimes we will go out for a meal, or sometimes we will go round to each other’s houses. We have play dates with our children and enjoy going round to the houses, but we also enjoy going out and having lunch or dinner. It depends on the mood.
Is there a specific restaurant or café that you like to visit?
Here in Wolverhampton, we go to the Fiume restaurant. Since I arrived here, it was the one that was recommended to us and everyone goes there.
How much have you explored Wolverhampton?
I’ve been here four years now and I have seen a lot of the city. I have had plenty of time for this, and I enjoy it. I enjoy taking my dogs for a walk in different places, we take the kids out quite a lot, visiting the parks and lots of nice places.
