PLAY | The game you missed
I think it would have been the Man United game at home where we won 2-1. George Elokobi and Kevin Doyle scored, and I think George tried to claim Doyle’s! I was on the bench that game and the atmosphere inside Molineux was incredible, so being on the pitch that day, that would have been pretty special. I don’t think I’ve ever been on the winning team against them so to be involved in that one would have been really special. As I said, I was on the bench and hurt my groin warming up at half-time, so I was devastated but I knew I couldn’t risk it by coming on.
DELETE | The game you would remove
That’s an easy one. I think it would be the West Brom game at home where we lost 5-1. Unfortunately for me, this was the only time I played West Brom. We always seemed to miss them in the seasons I was there, so to only play them once was rare. For the game where we lost 5-1, it was probably the game that cost us our Premier League status because Mick McCarthy got let go the day after the game. I think it was probably the media reaction in hindsight but as players, we let him down on the day. It was a huge game for the city that we were so desperate to do well, and it was my first ever Black Country derby so to lose it in that manner, where we just couldn’t get anything right on the day, was really disappointing.
REPLAY | The game with a different outcome
I’d have to go back and look at the season under Kenny Jacket where we went really close to getting into the play-offs. We’d beaten Leeds on the Easter Monday and that got us into the play-offs but then we went to St Andrew’s the next game, and I remember I didn’t get on and we lost 2-1. If we could have gone there and got a win then that would have really cemented our place in the play-offs. I think with our form we really could have had a go at it, and it would have been quite special.
REWIND | The game with the same outcome
I’d probably say the Liverpool game was the best, as I was captain and it wasn’t your normal away day at Anfield as we got a bigger allocation as it was the FA Cup and we had 9,000 behind the goal. They out sung the home fans all game and it was absolutely incredible. I just remember being the tunnel before the game, hearing them sing one of the songs they used to sing about me and that was really special. To back it up and be 2-0 up a half-time and win that game was probably one of my proudest moments in a Wolves shirt.
FAST-FORWARD | The game since you left the club
I’d say the Man United one at home in the first year in the Premier League. The atmosphere during an evening game at Molineux is very, very special and to play Man United and beat them, when I speak to some of the fans, they say that was one of the best games to watch Wolves at Molineux. So, to play in that game would have been pretty nice.
