Play/Delete/Rewind | Matt Jarvis

England international Matt Jarvis played more than 170 matches during his Wolves career, but in the first edition of Play/Delete/Rewind he has the chance to go over those games and rewrite his gold and black history.

PLAY | The game you missed

I didn’t miss many, but the one that comes to mind is the infamous Man United midweek game. We had a big game with Burnley on the Saturday, so Mick dropped a lot of us, so we were fully fit for that one. But as a player, you always want to play against United at Old Trafford – even though Mick’s decision worked out in the end!

DELETE | The game you would remove

It’s the 5-1 to West Brom when Mick got sacked after the game. It’s horrendous to even think about. Not only getting beat in the manner that we did, but to do it against your arch-rivals, at home, with the manager getting sacked, it was a horrible game that needs to be deleted from the memory bank for sure.

REPLAY | The game with a different outcome

In our first season in the Premier League, we played Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and got battered 4-0. They were so sharp, so quick, and it was a bit of a wake-up call. They were so clinical and every time they broke, you thought they were going to score. Playing that game and getting a different result would be nice – I’d even take a draw!

REWIND | The game with the same outcome

The game that always comes up is the Nottingham Forest game at home in the Championship. It was phenomenal and still gives me tingles now thinking about it. It was so good. As players, we knew we were on to something that season, but to go out and perform against a top Forest side, we just blew them apart and it was such an enjoyable game.

FAST-FORWARD | The game since you left the club

The games in 2018/19 against Manchester United in the Premier League and FA Cup were incredible and the atmospheres were electric, but I’d have to say any of the home games in the Europa League. I covered a lot of them pitchside for BT and they were great nights. I would have loved to have played in a European night at Molineux.
