The Wolves Esports Rainbow Six team has fought their way through phase one to qualify for phase two of the Copenhagen Major!
The Rainbow Six Siege tournament, which is split into three phases, got underway with phase one on Monday 24 April.
Wolves’ first match was a best of one (BO1) on Tuesday 25 April against the Japanese team, Varrel. With their surprise and opportunistic tactics, they presented a few surprises but nothing that would shake the steely resolve of the Wolves who walked away with a 7-3 victory to advance to the upper bracket final.
It was here the Wolves suffered their first defeat in 14 maps as they fell to a very strong W7M Esports team from Brazil, 7-4 in a BO1. This defeat sent the Wolves down to the lower bracket final where they would once again face team Varrel, but this time in a BO3, winner advances to phase two and the loser is eliminated.
The Wolves, not enjoying the taste of defeat and determined to reach phase two dispatched Varrel without remorse winning the two maps 7-2 and 7-4 to continue their journey in Copenhagen.
While they did suffer a defeat to W7M it was by no means an easy win for the Brazilians and Wolves did not underperform. In fact, the French speaking roster put out a solid performance, but W7M just came with a better one and took the win.
The Wolves now move into phase two of the Copenhagen Major where they will have five games to find three wins and progress to the finals (phase 3). However, three losses will see the team ending their journey in phase two.
Their first game in phase two sees them go up against the North American team M80 at 6.15pm BST // 7.15pm CEST on Saturday 29 April and you can watch it on the official Rainbow Six Twitch channel!
