The Wolves Valorant team shocked the Valorant world as they claimed a 3rd place finish at Masters Toronto.
The team, which finished 3rd in their regional league (VCT CN) to qualify for the Masters, was heavily predicted to be the first to exit the competition.
Fast forward a couple of weeks and Wolves were in the upper-bracket final and fighting for a spot in the grand final proving everyone wrong.
The tournament started as many predicted, with a loss to North American titans Sentinels. However, the scoreline did not do the game justice as Wolves ran the Americans close to the wire on both maps.
The next game was do or die for Wolves as they came face to face with another giant of the game in the form of European powerhouse Team Heretics. However, Wolves did the unthinkable and beat them in straight maps, 2-0 sending Heretics home and sending Wolves to another do or die match.
Again, Wolves did! They took down local rivals Bilibili Gaming 2-0 to secure their spot in the playoffs.
This feat alone was something nobody had predicted, and the Valorant world was now forced to sit up and take notice of this team out of China.
The first round of the playoffs saw Wolves up against Rex Regum Qeon from the Asia Pacific region. Again, many predicted Wolves to fall here but they continued to defy expectations and emerged victorious, 2-0.
Next came arguably the biggest challenge this Wolves team had ever faced, a game against tournament favourites and in-form team Gen.G Esports.
To everybody’s shock Wolves brushed the favourites aside in a straight 2-0 victory and booked their spot in the upper-bracket final against Paper Rex.
This match was one step too far and Wolves suffered a 0-2 defeat that knocked them down to the lower-bracket final where they eventually lost to one of the best and most decorated teams in Valorant Esports, Fnatic.
This tournament was more than about simply winning or losing. It was about showcasing the talent and personalities of Wolves. SiuFat, in-game leader for Wolves, captured the hearts of thousands with his honest opinions, heart felt encouragement for his teammates as well as his on-stage energy.
