Wolves will support ‘Premier League With Pride’ across both the men’s and women’s first-team fixtures this weekend, with the whole club standing together with one clear message: football is for everyone.
The men’s first-team host Chelsea at Molineux on Saturday, before Wolves Women welcome Rugby Borough to the SEAH Stadium the following day, and both fixtures will be used to celebrate and promote LGBTQ+ inclusion.
This week, the Premier League launched its new initiative, Premier League With Pride, which highlights and celebrates the LGBTQ+ community in football and showcases the work done in the game to promote inclusion.
At Wolves, inclusion is a year-round commitment and is embedded throughout the club, with ongoing work seeing policies strengthened, reporting measures improved, pastoral care enhanced and training and education programmes delivered.
Every supporter, player, volunteer and member of staff should feel welcome, and when homophobic or transphobic discrimination occurs: See it, challenge it and report it.
Previously, Wolves have promoted equality and diversity by creating an inclusive matchday experience to deliver meaningful community projects. More recently, Wolves Foundation have launched Kick Off – Football For All: LGBTQ+ Football sessions, designed to offer a safe and welcoming space for LGBTQ+ individuals and allies to connect, share experiences and build community through the game we all love.
Samantha Lee, equality, diversity and inclusion lead, said: “Pride fixtures are a celebration, but they are also a reminder of the responsibility we all share. Inclusion is not just something we talk about, it is something we practise every day. Our aim is simple: to make sure every person who walks through our doors feels safe, respected and part of the Wolves family.”
Ahead of Saturday’s Molineux fixture, supporters are reminded of the club’s zero-tolerance approach to discrimination of any kind. In previous meetings with Chelsea, instances of discriminatory chanting have led to arrests and police investigations – discriminatory chanting has no place at Molineux.
