Over the course of the next seven days Wolves will celebrate equality, diversity and inclusion across the club and Foundation as part of One Pack Week.
Since the first One Pack Week in 2021, Wolves have made great strides across all corners of the organisation, both football and non-football, to continue to make Wolves a welcoming place for all. Starting today, and throughout next week, that collective equality, diversity and inclusion work will be highlighted and celebrated through a series of written pieces, video features and special events.
Today’s clash with Brentford at Molineux is Wolves’ annual One Pack Week fixture, while Wolves Women’s meeting with Derby Women at New Bucks Head on Sunday also provides a celebration, placing inclusion at the centre stage.
Flagship written features this week will include a long read on the topic of colour vision deficiency, with four behind-the-scenes members of the pack interviewed, explaining how it affects their lives, and a look at Wolves Women’ recent Molineux fixture, and the impact of having members of Julen Lopetegui’s squad in attendance.
Special One Pack Week video content will also be published throughout the next seven days, including how Wolves Women head coach Dan McNamara surprised a supporter and invited her to Molineux for the Huddersfield game and the story of 8-year-old Frazer, a blind supporter, who won’t let that stop him on Saturday as he walks out with the team as mascot against Brentford.
Sporting director Matt Hobbs said: “I’ve been around the club for a number of years, and I’ve seen first-hand how inclusive a place Compton Park is every single day. We have players and staff come from across the world, with different backgrounds, needs and beliefs, and being inclusive for all is something we actively aim for in any way we can.
“Lisa Hollis, our head of player care, and her team work tirelessly to support all the players and staff. They are making sure everyone is comfortable and happy here at Wolves. For players to perform on the pitch, they’ve got to be happy off the pitch too, it’s all part of it. It’s something we take into consideration from the second players sign here and we’re proud of the welcoming environment we’ve created here at Wolves.”
Equality, diversity & inclusion manager Gurpri Bains added: “This year marks our third One Pack Week, and it’s a perfect chance for us to pause, reflect and shine a light on the achievements, strides and impact of our equality, diversity and inclusion work across the season and across departments.
“It allows us to celebrate the pack. This includes our supporters, partners, communities, players and all the staff who truly contribute towards making sure equality, diversity and inclusion is the golden thread running through our collective work.
“Every day we continue to live by our values of progressive, determined, bright, humble and unity and this is clearly demonstrated through the different voices and contributions spotlighted in this year’s One Pack Week and achieving further EDI firsts as we gear towards launching our EDI Strategy ‘Mission One Pack’ for the next season.”
