A special extended episode of Wolves Express looks ahead to Friday evening's Emirates FA Cup clash and some exclusive chats with Matt Doherty and Hugo Bueno.
Ahead of the second visit of Liverpool to Molineux in four days following Tuesday evening's Premier League victory, Wolves Express speaks to two of the Old Gold's defenders about the team's hopes for the fifth round tie as well as some of the iconic FA Cup moments of their Wolves careers.
Doherty talks about how it felt to make his debut for the club all the way back in 2010 in the FA Cup against Doncaster Rovers and the team's run to the semi-finals during the 2018/19 season under Nuno Espirito Santo.
That competition began with a win over Liverpool at Molineux, before the incredible quarter-final victory against Manchester United, and the Irishman explains what those games meant to him and the players at the time, while sharing his disappointment in how the run ended against Watford at Wembley.
Having joined the academy just weeks after that 2019 FA Cup run as a 16-year-old, Bueno says, as a Spaniard, how he quickly became aware of how important the competition is as he made his FA Cup debut against Liverpool away at Anfield in a dramatic 2-2 draw which saw Toti's late winner incorrectly ruled out by VAR.
While the left wing-back reflects on the highs of scoring his first senior goal in the 2024 cup quarter-final against Coventry City, before the heart-breaking lows which were to follow just minutes later at the full-time whistle.
The pair also talk about what the FA Cup means to them and how the team are in a confident mood heading into Friday's visit of the Reds to Molineux.
Former Wolves midfielder, and current Shrewsbury Town assistant manager, Dave Edwards also features on the latest episode as he gives his take on Tuesday's Premier League win and explains why the Old Gold should have nothing to fear going into Friday night's cup tie.
Released three times a week – every Monday, Wednesday and Friday – Wolves Express is packed with news, updates and exclusive interviews on both the playing and non-playing side of the club, complementing other offerings of the Official Wolves Podcast and Matchday Live Extra.
