With Rob Edwards being announced as the Old Gold’s new head coach, Wolves Express looks at what the club’s former defender will bring to the role.
Wednesday’s episode of the club’s official bitesize podcast features the thoughts of Wolves’ senior leadership group, including Jeff Shi, Matt Jackson and Phil Hayward – all of whom have worked with Edwards previously – as well as his former teammate at Molineux and with the Welsh national team, Dave Edwards.
Executive chairman Shi explains why he brought Edwards back to Wolves and talks about his growth as a manager during the last 10 years since the pair first worked together back in 2016 during the Welshman’s time as interim boss.
Jackson also features on the podcast as he shares the process behind bringing Edwards back to the club and what he hopes the new head coach can achieve both on and off the pitch in the next few months.
Hayward first joined Wolves in 2008 and worked briefly with Edwards during the final months of his playing career in Old Gold, before being reunited with him at Compton Park as a coach and shares his memories of their time together.
The director of performance also gives an insight into the type of person Wolves have appointed as their new head coach, and how he believes Edwards will be able to galvanise not only the players but all the staff across the club after a difficult six months.
There is also a catch up with Wolves Unpacked host Dave Edwards – whose connection with the new boss goes back more than 30 years – as he reveals why he believes his namesake and former teammate is the best head coach Wolves could have appointed.
Released three times a week – every Monday, Wednesday and Friday – Wolves Express is packed with news, updates and exclusive interviews on both the playing and non-playing side of the club, complementing other offerings of the Official Wolves Podcast and Matchday Live Extra.
