Colin Booth, who twice won the First Division title with Wolves during the 1950s, has sadly passed away at the age of 90.
The striker, who scored 27 goals in 82 appearances for the club, began his journey with Wolves as an apprentice in 1950, after moving from Middleton in the north west.
Having debuted against Aston Villa in April 1955, Booth established himself during the 1955/56 campaign, scoring his first goal in a 7-2 win over Manchester City.
Booth famously scored four goals in one game against Arsenal and played his part as Wolves became champions of England for a second time, turning out 13 times during the historic 1957/58 campaign.
He remained part of the Molineux set-up and hit a hat-trick against Portsmouth the following season – his second in old gold, having also trebled against Sheffield United in 1956.
A league winner once again as the club retained its First Division title in 1959, Booth played his 82nd and final Wolves game against Tottenham Hotspur in October 1959, before moving on to Nottingham Forest.
Capped for England at under-23 level while at Molineux, Booth went on to also represent Doncaster Rovers and Oxford United, near to which he continued to live after his playing days.
The thoughts of all at Wolves are with Colin’s family and friends at this sad time.
