Police horses will be used at Molineux for the first time in more than 20 years this Saturday.
While there is no increased risk around the fixture itself, three horse-mounted officers will attend the game to complement the regular officers present at each Molineux matchdays.
The 5.30pm kick-off won’t be the first time horse-mounted police officers have been present at Midlands’ games this season, after assisting at Aston Villa, Coventry City and Birmingham City already this campaign.
The horses will be seen outside Molineux on Saturday evening pre-match, ensuring both sets of supporters enter the stadium safely, and around car parks as staff and supporters arrive.
As well as providing more police visibility at matches, the police horses offer a height advantage, allowing mounted officers to see over crowds and move between pockets of people.
Assistant chief constable Matt Welsted said: “We’re delighted that this weekend’s match at Molineux will see the return of horses and mounted officers.
“We’re continuing to see our equine friends as a welcome addition to our teams at matches across the West Midlands and they will again make for a great photo opportunity for fans.”
Wolves facilities, safety & security director Steve Sutton said: “We are always happy to work with our partners at West Midlands Police, and we were happy to oblige when they came to us about the return of horse-mounted police officers.
“We look forward to hosting the horses at our game this weekend, and we know many of our fans will enjoy seeing them around the stadium again on matchday.”
