Safe standing officially launched at Molineux

Following the granting of a safe standing license in February of this year, Wolves now officially operate licensed safe standing areas at Molineux.

The club remains proud to have been at the forefront of the campaign to introduce areas of safe standing at all-seater stadiums, giving supporters who prefer to watch games while standing the choice to do so in safety.

For the 2023/24 season, the Sports Ground Safety Authority (SGSA) renewed Wolves’ licence to allow the club to operate the designated standing areas.

However, this comes with strict conditions that require the club to satisfactorily demonstrate that effective arrangements are in place and to ensure persistent standing does not occur in areas without mitigating measures.

The ground regulations state: ‘Nobody may stand in any seating area whilst play is in progress (except those persons who have tickets to the licensed standing in seated areas).

‘Persistent standing in seated areas other than licensed standing in seated areas whilst play is in progress is strictly forbidden and may result in ejection from the ground.’

If supporters not located in the safe standing areas of Molineux persistently stand, it will inevitably lead to enforcement action by the authorities that is likely to result in supporters’ seats becoming unavailable in the future.

Representatives of the SGSA attended the recent home fixture against Aston Villa on 8th October and unfortunately witnessed the reluctance of small sections of supporters to adhere to the ground regulations and remain seated – including when requested to do so by stewards.

The club would like to thank those supporters who are remaining seated, but also ask those who aren’t for their support in respecting the club’s ground regulations and to remain seated throughout fixtures.

The areas of most concern are being monitored by CCTV on a match-by-match basis and, should there be no improvement, retrospective action will be taken, which may include the deactivation of tickets by those who are blatantly refusing to cooperate.

Supporters that are concerned they may be unable to adhere to these regulations should contact Fan Services on fanservices@wolves.co.uk or 01902 810485 to discuss options regarding relocation to an area of licensed safe standing on a match-by-match basis during the current season, or more permanently for the 2024/25 season.
