Lionesses to make Molineux return

Molineux will host the Lionesses once again this summer, as they take on Belgium in one of the final preparation games for UEFA Women’s EURO 2022.

Lionesses head coach Sarina Wiegman will bring her side back to the scene of their Arnold Clark Cup triumph on Thursday 16th June, two days after England men's senior team host Hungary in the UEFA Nations League at Molineux.

A bumper crowd of 14,463 turned out to watch the Lionesses defeat rivals Germany 3-1 and lift the Arnold Clark Cup in February, and Wiegman is delighted to be returning to a stadium with excellent memories.

“Although at the moment we are fully focused on the two upcoming April qualifiers, with the Euros approaching you also feel the excitement growing,” she said.

“These matches against Belgium and the Netherlands will be just the challenge we need in the last weeks of our work to be ready for the EUROs.

“I am excited to be going back to Wolverhampton. We were given a tremendous welcome against Germany. I am also very pleased to have the match in Leeds. I know it is an area that has a big passion for football, and I hope we can give the fans plenty of excitement at both matches.”

Tickets for both fixtures will go on sale exclusively to My England Football members from 1pm on Wednesday 9 March.
