Raul Jimenez: Code Red set for BBC launch

A year since Raul Jimenez suffered a life-threatening head injury at the Emirates Stadium, Raul Jimenez: Code Red will air on the BBC.

The documentary has been created by Wolves, reliving the striker’s horrible injury on 29th November 2020 and his return to full health and the Premier League, through a number of in-depth interviews and never before seen footage.

The first showing will come on BBC iPlayer on Saturday 20th November, while a smaller segment will air on BBC One’s Football Focus on Saturday 27th November, before an extended version of Raul Jimenez: Code Red will hit Wolves TV on Wednesday 8th December.

Interviews include former head coach Nuno Espirito Santo, whose emotional words “code red” inspired the documentary title, captain Conor Coady, Dr Matt Perry, as well as Jimenez’s family and the Mexican himself.

Filming began when Jimenez returned to Compton Park following the injury, and tracks his progress to now, with the Mexican back playing and scoring in the Premier League, while the documentary also takes viewers back to his early days in North America and the continent.

Following the initial BBC launch, the documentary will also air worldwide through the Premier League’s rightsholders, including in Mexico, ensuring the striker’s miraculous journey is told across the globe.
