DSA Away Games: Manchester City

An account of the DSA's away day trip to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup on the 24th October 2017.

Despite the horrendous journey to and from the Etihad stadium, I would like to report that, from an organisational perspective, the Man City trip went very well, with 29 DSA members and potential members attending. There were 4 new membership applications and one member renewed this season’s membership. This now means we have 100 paid up members, a marvellous milestone in the short life of the DSA, thank you to every member for their support and commitment to the association.

The refreshments were supplied by Steve & Barbara Daniels, (Snacks) and Lin Corbett plus her family (hot drinks), thanks to both families. Thanks also to Jim Corbett and Gavin Phillips for making and distributing the drinks, to Barbara for distributing the snacks and to Andy Pike for taking the football card round to the members, which Garry Woodward was the lucky winner of the £20 prize. Special thanks to Nigel Driver for his role in co-ordinating the trip and to the Social Committee for their hard work and contribution to this very successful trip and their on-going commitment in organising social events for DSA members, their family and friends etc.

Pity the match result did not go our way but the team tried their hardest and despite the penalty shootout and final outcome, they should be very proud of their performance especially as they have been the only team, so far this season, to prevent Man City scoring in regulation match time.

The 29 members present were informed that the DSA would be running a trip to Reading, on November 18th subject to member’s interest and ticket availability. They were reminded to contact DSA Committee member Nigel Driver to register their interest, as soon as possible.
