At the end of last year, a milestone collaboration between Wolves Academy and Wolves Foundation was announced in which the two would combine to develop a first-of-its-kind opportunity to bring college students and academy scholars together.
The collaboration will create a once-in-a-lifetime experience for 48 learners, with students given the chance to enhance their personal development through a variety of different activations within the community alongside developing key life skills.
In March, 24 college students and 24 academy scholars will travel to La Nucia in Spain to observe and take part in high-level training, games and cultural activities.
Since the turn of the year, the students have been preparing for the trip by undertaking a number of community activations.
From the British Army coming into Compton to talks on UK Parliament, the group are getting stuck into the collaboration which is all about giving the participants opportunities to learn about new careers and develop fresh skills.
With the trip to Spain little under a month away, there’s still time to squeeze in a few more activations to ensure that the group are fully prepared for their time overseas.
Speaking on the activations so far, player care manager Mark Hyland said: “The first two activations were chosen to bond the group together. Initially, we did the launch and some team building exercises around the table just to initially introduce the boys and girls to the Turing Scheme and integrate them to help them move forward during the different activations.
“The army leadership was a really good afternoon which brought everyone together to develop that leadership in more of an active way. They were able to get to know each other more, the communication between the group got better and their ability to work within a group was clear to see.
“The whole objective of the Turing Scheme is to give both groups a lifestyle enrichment programme which will help them further down the line in their careers.”
