Newcastle United 3 (Neave 68, 73, Emerson 86) Wolves (Angel 36, Harper 79)
Wolves under-18s were edged out by Newcastle United in a five-goal thriller on Saturday.
Richard Walker’s side were back in U18 Premier League action for the first time in 2024, but succumbed to defeat following a Johny Emerson winner four minutes from time.
The Old Gold led at the half-time interval after Dani Angel scored his fourth goal since arriving at the club after being teed up by Lennon Patterson.
However, the Magpies were able to turn the game on its head in the second 45 as a quickfire Sean Neave brace put the home side into the lead.
However, Wolves weren’t in any mood to lie down and were soon level when Fraser Harper struck 11 minutes from time.
Unfortunately for the youngsters, Newcastle regained their earlier advantage when Emerson found the back of the net on 86 minutes as Graeme Carrick’s team took all three points on Tyneside.
