Under-18s defender Caden Voice was delighted with the way the team responded from disappointment in the FA Youth Cup.
Wolves defeated Liverpool by four goals to one in the U18 Premier League at Compton Park on Saturday afternoon and Voice played a starring role as he scored, assisted and captained the side from the heart of the defence.
On bouncing back from FA Youth Cup defeat
“It was a tough one to take the other day, especially losing on penalties.
“I’m buzzing for the lads today to win 4-1 against a top team in the league and I was happy to get a goal.
“We had some great chances to go ahead, even in the first minutes of the game. It could’ve been more.”
On playing balls in behind and creating chances
“I think it worked well today, especially because they had a high line. That was the ball that was most threatening and challenging for them. We got a few chances from it.
“We hit the bar, hit the post and had a few one-one-one chances. I think in the future we maybe put them away, but we can’t complain with four goals.”
On his goal and performance overall
“The third goal just settles it down and settles the nerves. I think it takes a bit of pressure off us and then I was just happy for the fourth one as well because that finishes them off.
“I think I played well. I’m happy with the assist, happy with the goal and defensively we were quite solid.
“I thought I won my battles and I’d like to add more goals to my game now.”
On how the team are evolving under Richard Walker
“It took us time in pre-season to settle in and get used to the manager, but I think we understand him well now.
“We’re starting to click and working our way back up the league.”
