Wolves 1 (Chiwome 56) Manchester United 0
Wolves under-18s put on a brilliant display against Manchester United on Saturday afternoon, with Leon Chiwome’s second-half finish earning the Old Gold their first victory in the U18 Premier League Cup this season.
The match began very evenly, with clear-cut chances running thin at both ends. The first shot on target came from Man United left-back Harry Amass but he caused no issues to Lewys Benjamin between the sticks.
After 22 minutes of play, Wolves charged forward with a slick attacking move, which resulted in their second corner of the game and Caden Voice seeing his volley blocked by the Man United defence.
In the 31st minute, Wolves had an even a better chance to score when Fabian Reynolds was played through on goal from the right, but his attempt from a narrow angle struck the side-netting.
Before the end of the half, Malachi Sharde received a golden opportunity to put the visitors ahead after dribbling past Benjamin from a breakaway, but the Man United forward directed his shot drastically wide of the empty net.

The Wolves defence was put to the test early on in the second half, with Man United creating two good chances inside the first five minutes. First Ethan Wheatley struck narrowly off target from close range before Benjamin had to pull off a superb save to deny Sharde.
Despite the visitors coming close, it was Wolves who opened the scoring after 56 minutes of play. Reynolds nicked a tidy through ball to Chiwome who slotted his first-time finish past Elyh Harrison from the edge of the area to put Wolves 1-0 ahead.
The game resumed in even terms, with Wolves creating a few dangerous attacks through the flanks, but the luck was not on their side.
With 10 minutes left on the clock, Fraser Harper crossed a great ball for Reynolds, whose shot from point-blank range was brilliantly stopped by Harrison before Chiwome slid the follow-up just wide.
Man United put up a fight during the final minutes of the game, but a couple of exceptional saves from Benjamin kept the visitors at bay, handing Wolves an impressive victory over the league leaders while extending their unbeaten run to three games.
