There are over 20,000 players registered in the JPL with around 2,000 in each age group, meaning any player selected is in the top 2% of players in their specific bracket.
The aim of the programme is to provide the players within the league a high-quality experience at some of the world’s best academies and create a pathway for them to develop, improve and eventually progress into academy football.
Players from under-9s through to under-15s took part in the trials on Saturday 20th August and Sunday 28thAugust, which advanced from an open trial to an invite only session the following week.
With club scouts in attendance, it gave Wolves Academy the opportunity to take a look at the best players competing in JPL with a view to recruiting.
Jack Maydew, academy & development recruitment officer, said: “We are extremely proud to have been approached to host this event, which is one of extremely high standard.
“The JPL is known for being one of the best leagues in the Midlands and if not, the UK. There were some fantastic players on show, and it gave our scouts the opportunity to see players in a different environment.
“The event also enabled both Wolves and JPL staff to come together to discuss players and forthcoming fixtures, so a huge thank you goes to the club for hosting and the JPL staff for a thoroughly enjoyable two days.”
