Academy goalkeeping coach to join Lincoln

Wolves can confirm head of academy goalkeeping Scott Fry has left the club to take up the role of first-team goalkeeper coach at League One side Lincoln City.

Fry progressed through the age categories during his eight years at Wolves Academy and was part of the coaching staff of the under-23 side which earned promotion to Premier League 2 Division 1 following play-off final joy at Molineux in May.

He will now join former Wolves midfielder Mark Kennedy and his coaching staff at the Imps as he moves on to the next phase of his career as a coach at first-team level.

Wolves’ academy manager for football, Jon Hunter-Barrett, said: “This is a great opportunity for Scott and is one that the club don’t want to stand in the way of.

“We see this move as an opportunity to celebrate a member of staff’s progression at Wolves. Scott first joined the Academy in 2015 as a part-time schoolboy coach and progressed through the ranks into a full-time position. He then kicked on again to head up the goalkeeping department – which is a very sought-after position within youth football.

“We talk about the progression plan of our players in the academy, but here at Wolves we also care about the progression plans for our coaches as we want to see them succeed and develop.

“We are all about getting better and improving, and we’re really proud of Scott’s development and we’re happy to see him get to a point where clubs are wanting to take him in to their first-teams.

“He’s now got this fantastic opportunity to go to Lincoln as their first-team goalkeeping coach, to work with their senior players, and we all wish him the best of luck.”
