Roberts | 'We’ve got the confidence to go all the way'

Tyler Roberts insists the confidence is high among Wolves’ FA Youth Cup group following a dominant win over Tottenham Hotspur at Molineux and believes the team can go all the way in the competition.

The 18-year-old winger scored twice to help the young side to a 3-0 win over Spurs in the fifth round, including an impressive individual second where he used pace and skill to power in from the right before firing into the far corner, and with Brighton & Hove Albion waiting in the quarter-finals, Roberts was full of praise for his teammates and their performance.

On a comfortable win over Spurs

“I thought we were good. As a team we were really good and I thought we were the better team. First-half, we started with good momentum in the first 20 minutes, but we sort of dropped off, towards the end of the first-half.

“But luckily at half-time, the team talk worked and we got back on top in the second-half.”

On his stunning solo second

“I’ve always been told to get at my man, test him out and see what he’s about. I just did what I usually do, I tested him out and luckily I’ve managed to cut inside and finish it with my left foot.”

On facing Brighton in the quarter-finals

“We know we’ve got a strong all-around team, especially with these lads coming down. It gives us confidence to go on and win the tournament.

“Definitely, we’ve got the confidence to go all the way. We think we can get past Brighton and we can go all the way as well.

“We’ve just got to focus on the next game and hopefully we can win that.”
